Airfare: Now or Later?
I am planning a trip to London on 9-30 with a return on 10-10. Do you think I should wait until after the "summer" season? Do you expect airfares to come down a bit?
|
Where are you flying from, and do you have to fly a specific airline? What fare are you getting right now?
I find some flights from the New York area to be about $500, tax included, which I consider pretty good for that time of the year - prices usually fall after mid-October for your outbound travel. And <$500 if you take Icelandair and stop over at Reykjavik. |
Without knowing the itinerary and the fare you're looking at, it is impossible to offer an opinion on whether you should be waiting or not. Earlier this week, I picked up a fall fare to Paris that I know is very good. Based on the historical ranges that have been available for the itinerary, it would have been foolish to pass it up. What happens to airfares in general may or may not apply to your specific route and schedule.

Thank you... I am departing from Los Angeles/LAX. The current fare is around $700+

Yeah, I'm seeing all the non-stop flights for about $680 - Air NZ, Virgin, AA, BA.
I say it's an okay fare. Not particular good, but reasonable for that time of year. I think I'd wait a little to see if there'll be a fall sale, and I doubt the prices will go any higher for those dates in the short term. But of course, if you must fly on those dates, and must fly a particular airline, then you risk not getting that flight/fare in the end. Your call. |
