air travel within italy
We are trying to get to Sardinia, Naples and Sicily (Palermo). We have about 13 days. I know Meridiana flies to some of the locations, but not the other. Please advise me of your experience on this lowcost airlines. Arlene [email protected]

Air travel to Sardinia is tricky, because of a semi-monopoly situation -- it's a long story, but in short it goes like this: only Meridiana flies to Olbia; only Alitalia flies to Cagliari; only Air One flies to Alghero. The exception, however, is that Ryan Air operates a few domestic flights from Alghero to Teviso, Brescia and Rome (Ciampino).

We're flying Air One to Sicily from Pisa. I would not call it a low cost option. We tried for a couple of months to find a lower cost but finally reserved on Air One when the prices never seemed to improve. If we were flying from Rome to Sicily, the options would be more numerous and much less expensive. You didn't say where you were leaving from but if you can get to Rome, you have better connections and better prices to Naples, Sardinia and Sicily.
