Air Traffic Controller Strike France

Are the Air Traffic Control Strikes scheduled for April 16-18 firm dates?
We are flying from New York to Paris next Friday which is a strike date, on American Airlines. The same flight was cancelled today. News reports state that long haul flights
should not be effected, but they were today.

Thanks for any information you may have on the situation.

Why was your flight today cancelled? Is there a strike action going on NOW, also?

Flight cancellation was 40% today and expected to be 50% tomorrow. As for dates in the future, you never know if the strike is going to take place until the day before, since a strike notice can be cancelled at any moment.

I have no information but just offer my sympathies. You might try to call American Airlines and see what they have to say.

We had these concerns last year with the Air France strike but, fortunately, our flight took off as scheduled. I hope you have the same good luck.

Thanks everyone. Many U.S. to France flights were cancelled today due to the strike. Not all. I wonder how the airlines decide which to cancel and which to fly?

American Airlines notice today was to extend flight changes for 3 days without penalty. How accommodating...

Thanks kerouac for the information. We're flying on FF miles so don't have other options at the moment.

More strike dates are planned for the last weekend in April also.
