Air to Florence; Pisa or Bologna??

As a student flying to Florence for for a semester, I could use some advice for flying into Pisa or Bologna(cheaper) from London. If anyone has any information on connecting on to Florence, please reply. Thanks in advance.

Hello Donna,

Pisa or Bologna to Florence are about the same by train, - about an hour.

Pisa airport is only 5-10 mins bus ride to the station, so it's very convenient.
Not sure how far Bologna airport is from the station.

If you're looking at RyanAir, be aware that their 'Bologna' flights actually fly into Forli, some distance from Bologna.

Hope this helps ...

Steve

Florence does have its own airport about twenty minutes from Stazione Santa Maria Novella by regular bus.
There may well be direct flights from London; know they have direct flights from Paris, because we have done this on more than one occasion.

P.S. There's also a direct Pisa Airport to Florence train service, - about 75 mins.

Hope this helps ...
Steve

Fly to Pisa. The iarport in Flornce is just a small thing with 1 and a half strips. The half lane is the autostrada (highway?) that runs right beside the actual lane. One time an airplane had to land in emergency on the autostrada. The airport in pisa is the main airport of Tuscany and the Airport of Pisa is directly connected to the center of Firenze by 13 trains that leave directly from the airport.
