AIR ITALY: can anyone share their experience with this airline?

Have never even heard of it, but they have great fares to Sardinia from Naples (cheaper than the ferries) and could solve all my problems!!

Hmmm - I was just about to post the same question - I'm looking at Palermo to Naples for 45 euro... Did you find anything out elsewhere, dina?

Maybe it is "Air One" I know they fly internal flights in Italy. It is an Italian carrier. Sardinia Sicily etc.

No, Air One turns out to be a subsidiary of Lufthansa, and they want 66 euro for the Palermo-Naples flight. Slightly better times, though. Did you book with Air Italy, dina? (I'm going to search for the EU safety records, and maybe ask on the Airlines board.)

Air Italy is Alitalia, if I am not mistaken. I have never flown with them, however, from what I have heard they seem to be able to get you from point A to point B without killing you (a bonus!). I have also heard that the seats and electronic equipment are often broken, do not function properly, or do not even exist. The flight attendants are sour, and ignorant at best. Food, if you get any, is bland and cold, and the pilot's equipment is worn. I have also heard that there is going to be a potential takeover by KLM or another airline. If the savings are worth it to you, by all means fly them, but if service and quality are important to you, then Alitalia will not do well.

Here is a recent post about Alitalia:

For such a short hop, I would take it.

No, Air Italy isn't Alitalia. According to wikipedia it's a mostly charter airline. I've turned up three reviews from passengers, none of them favorable. I just booked with Air One.

Yes, Air Italy and Alitalia are different companies.

It is their own fault if they choose a name which so close to the name of Europe's worst airline.
