Air France Strike???

Do you think the strike from Air Traffic Controllers and AF cabin crew can be averted? I know I'm being selfish, but I spent a lot of money and time planning my once in a life time holiday next week.

It shouldn't affect international flights. But you never know for sure. Maybe Trump can talk to them.

Robert is right. International flights are the least affected.
In the worst case, AF will rebook you another flight, from AF or a sister company or another company.
You may lose a few hours and suffer some inconvenience but no more.
Have a great trip !

You never know if a strike notice will be an actual strike until 24 hours ahead of time. This is all part of the process.

Regarding the current strike notice, long haul flights are not supposed to be affected if it happens, just short and medium haul.

We no longer book AF flights to France, unless there are no other options.

Funny, because Lufthansa and British Airways have had a lot more strikes lately.

We flew to Venice through Frankfurt a few years ago when there were Lufthansa rotating strikes. We ended up OK on our connecting flight, but I had investigated other options to get to Venice before I left. You just have to think of it as an adventure, not a disaster.

The other thing I would suggest, when there is uncertainty about a connecting flight, is to reserve your seats on the trans Atlantic portion as close to the front of the airplane as possible. This ensures you get off the plane sooner which gives you more time to figure out what happens next. I did this on the flight I mentioned above and it made the difference in our getting our next flight.

British Airways cancelled half of it's London to Barcelona routes and consolidated them on the remaining flights. Most likely your airline will rebook you or give you the chance to get a refund.

As of now only Monday 3/6 flights are affected.

During the AF strike in '14, we landed at CDG and our flight to Nice was cancelled. They were allowing cancellations and rebookings with no charge.

I had printed train schedules in my hand, and autoeurope.com, where we had rented a car in the south, worked out the rest of the trip with me on the phone, including an overnight hotel stay on the way south.

Having the phone numbers and schedules with me was very helpful. Letting my husband in on the changes and choices was not. But that's just him.

just happened to see this...flew Air France last year and had to contend with these stories off and on un till our trip which missed the strike dates just barely...no more Air France...it can happen with any carrier but much more with Air France and that combined with some marginal service in business class and if there is another option I will take it.

I did the exactly the same thing tuscanlifeedit did - but our last leg was CDG to Bordeaux. I reserved a hotel half-way on the route to Bordeaux, reserved an additional car with AutoEurope with pick-up at CDG, reserved dinner, etc. Only when we had the boarding papers in our hand for the CDG to BOD flight, did I then cancel the hotel & car reservation.

However, since then I believe that AutoEurope will not allow last minute cancellations.

BTW, I figured the TGVs to Bordeaux would be "full".

I no longer fly with AF because of strikes.
Same with Lufthansa. Same with Iberia.
I no longer fly with easyjet because they are the first ones canceled when air controllers go on strike at Orly.

I use Sabena.
