AIR FRANCE SALE US to PARIS. Purchase by 15 May for travel 15 October 04 thru 15 March 05

In a little ad buried in our newspaper yesterday, Air France is celebrating their May 5, 2005 (5/05) listing on the NY Stock Exchange by offering a companion ticket for $5.05. Purchase by 15 May, 2004 for travel between 15 October, 2004 and 15 March, 2005.

BOS, NYC, PHL, WAS 1st person $505, 2nd person $5.05
CHI, MIA 1st person $555, 2nd person $50.05
HOU, LAX, SFO 1st person $605, 2nd person $150.05

Fees and taxes about $90 (?each)
December 17-24 blackout

Two people could travel from SF to Paris for $467 each!

New Years in Paris, anyone?

that's kind of a very odd sale, and I can't really plan that far ahead, but it sounds like a good deal.

The DC fare would be about $760 total, or $380 each, which is a pretty good fare for winter (maybe $100 off usual winter fares), but not extraordinary.

The odd thing is that I can't find any mention of this sale on their web site (I've looked all normal places), and AF is already listed on the NY stock exchange, it's not just something that will happen in 2005, they were listed on 5/5/2004, just a few days ago. I think the 5/5 came from may 5, not the year, so I think your paper is wrong.

Very strange, Christina. It's an Air France ad, not a newspaper article. Fine print says to contact your trvel professional or phone Air France at 800 237 2747.

The Philadelphia Inquirer started carrying this ad earlier this week. I saw it and did the math and then my husband called me at work to say "Should we?"

But we just returned from Paris a month ago, so we probably really shouldn't.

But we might .

Saw the ad, booked ord to cdg. March 3-10, 2005. With taxes 795 for 2, which is good, usually I pay 1000.00 for 2. The special is not mentioned on the website. PJ

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I love Fodor's. Just booked a week in Paris over February school vacation. Don't usually plan so far ahead, but it's the only time we can go, and it is VERY difficult to find tickets that week to anywhere. $690 round trip from Boston for two of us, taxes included.

The special is mentioned on the Air France website as "Celebration Fare". It can't be booked on the website, though, you have to call Air France.

Well, I sure lost out on this one! I guess sometimes it pays to wait. It would have been approx. $470/pp with the celebratory fare from SFO to Paris in late December.

Anyone considering this should hurry. I called earlier, made a tentative reservation, and after talking with my husband wanted to change our departure date by two days...already too late. We'll definitely keep what we have!

Great deal! I can't, I just returned a few weeks ago. But if it is any consolation to those who won't be able to take advantage of this, I bought my airfare online 17 days before my trip for $475.00 Swiss Air out of JFK first week of April. And you can do much better with a few more days' notice. So maybe you too will find a good buy when you're ready.

Thank you to Betsy and others who brought this to the list. We live in central Maine and our papers never get this kind of advertising (heck, we don't even get the advertising for musicians coming to Portland). I made reservations yesterday for next March!

The sale is not mentioned on the website again. Are the seats all sold out?

The offer isn't mentioned on the website and you have to reserve through Air France's 800 number or with a travel agent. The offer was mentioned as one of Travelzoo's weekly Top Twenty today, so it's evidently not sold out yet.

By the way, the weekly Travelzoo newsletter is a great way to hear about travel bargains.

The offer is mentioned on the website but you still have to call and book. If you move your cursor over press room it will appear.
