Air conditioning - August in Paris
I am currently researching for rentals in Paris for August 2008. Could someone advise me if air-conditioning is necessary during this period?

If it happens to be August 2003 weather, you'd have no doubt of it at all. If it is like August 2007 weather (i.e. right now), then you could get along without it. Check weatherunderground.com for historical data.

well, I'm in Paris right now and it's about 31 C or 90 degrees, so I'm glad I have a hotel with AC. It was hot yesterday, also, just a little less. Paris is just variable, you never know in the summer. So, it is totally up to you as to your tolerance for heat, your budget, what you are used to, and how much risk you are willing to take with your vacation. The odds are that if you are in Paris in August for any length of time, it most likely will be pretty hot some of those days. It is very difficult to get a rental apt. with AC, though.

Yesterday and today were suddenly over 30°C. However, it will rain tonight and all the rest of the week, according to the weatherwoman, with temperatures back down to 22°.
That says nothing about 2008. |
If you are used to living with AC (I have a couple of friends who us eit ONLY when it really not - as opposed to most people who run it for much of the summer) YES, you will want AC.
Every time I have been in Paris in the summer it has been over 90 on at least some days. You might catch a very cool spell - but do you want to risk it. |
Hi S,
Will your stay be ruined if your room doesn't cool down to about 80 F until nearly 02:00? ((I)) |
Having been in Paris during a summer heat wave I wouldn't stay there again without A/C.

What ira said :)
Well, my trip probably wouldn't be ruined, but I know I'd be looking for a hotel with a/c if I were you! Happy travels! |
