After the Luberon, then?
Our family, a multi-generational group, is vacationing in a house for a week, in the Luberon, near Joucas. After we spend our week together, we are all headed to Aix for 2 last nights together, and then our kids/ grandkids will head home from MRS. My husband and I have another 8 days to do whatever we want and are considering staying on for a couple of days/nights in Aix (thoughts—or should we move on?) Then we are considering driving to Uzès and staying 3-4 nights. Our last 2 nights will be in Marseille before we head home. I would really appreciate any feedback you all might have.

Uzes would be a good complement. You might even spend 4 nights there, and 4 nights near Vaison. You didn't mention the "well known" St Remy - so I guess you've already visited this village.
We were in the Luberon for a month this past June. Attached is my Provence itinerary - with updates from our recent trip there. Did I meet you in the Dordogne about 10-15 years ago?? Stu Dudley |
Arles would be another good choice. A day trip to the Pont du Gard and Uzès is easy, with a possible stop in Tarascon. Another would be a drive to the Camargue and back.

You could strike out in almost any direction and do well. I also like SIsteron and Manosque.

Hi Stu—yes we did meet! Four couples (I think) all had lunch and then drove to one of the couple’s home and visited some more over a few glasses of wine. I think it was 2009–so 15 years ago!
We stayed in St. Remy for a week 2 years ago so are looking for a new place to explore. We have not been to Aix and thought that staying there a few nights would be better than just a day trip. Uzes sounds like it is picturesque, has good markets, boutiques, and restaurants—I am hoping 3-4 nights there will be just right. I have your updated guide and am referring to it frequently! Kay |
Good ideas, Michael and Shelemm—thank you. Beautiful photos!

Uzes vs Aix---tough call! Both excellent places to base. Each have excellent markets and more.
Personally Wren, I'd go with one of those two.....or both. *if you want, we have an excellent rental to recco in Uzes. I am done. the decisions |
The Massif Central is excellent and you will not be trampled by North American tourists.

Thanks, Zebec—i checked out your rental (from your TR) and it is unavailable for the dates we will be in Uzes—we found something that looks like it will work for us—but thank you.

tHE Pont du gard is absolutely amazing. Also go to the incredible FONTAINE DE VAUCLUSE

After Luberon, and before going to Marseille, I would visit the Alpilles.
It is has beautiful as Luberon and there are some splendid places like Eygalières or Saint-Rémy de Provence : https://www.provenceweb.fr/e/bouches/stremy/stremy.htm |
