affordable ldging in Venice ?

Is there such a thing as affordable lodging in Venice ? My girlfriend and I will be there in end April ; and looking for a clean, comfortable, conveniently located place that's about US$ 50 at most. Any ideas ?

Thanks.

Eric

http://www.bookmeahostel.com/

You can try above site. It shows many hostels under 50 usd. Some of them seem conveniently located but can't tell if they are comfortable enough for you. But for 50 usd or less you can't expect much in Venice can you?

i'd suggest trying lido, an island about 10 min vaparetto commute from venice. since you'll be there in april, it might not be swarming with the italians who vacation there in summer.

We stayed in a really great place back in September, the Albergo Doni; it was $80 with a shared bathroom and bread for breakfast. But the location was fantastic, seconds away from St. Marc's square. Our room had a view of a small canal, which was great and the service was very friendly and very very helpful. Around the corner was a little bar with the greatest sandwiches and wine. I'm not sure that you can find something for under $80 during that time of the year, so if you decide to spend more, I really recommend this place.
