Christina--I'm not sure if I am reading your post correctly or not, but it sounds like you are saying that students at the private schools do not get credits transferred to their regular university. I only know about our DD's experience, but she got her credits transferred from ICP to her regular university without any issues. That was part of why she went there, as it is adding to her minor and so she definitely wanted the credits.

You know, if you're going to be in France for two or three months like that, the program I did might be a good choice. It was called Nouqa Langues, in Paris. In addition to very enjoyable classes with a professor who became a good friend as well, they had a lot of options for me to explore and learn about the city and such.

Maybe that's good for you if you don't know a TON of French and are going for a medium-length stay. Some people who stay in France don't get a full experience if they aren't pointed in the right directions to appreciating the real city and real French culture. They could probably find you housing, as I saw that was an option. They were great! Helped me fall in love with the city :)

Plus if you are in Paris, you'll have good access to weekend trips and such not too far away if you'd like.

Learn french in France can be expensive but is definetly a wonderful experience and you are sure to ^make quicker progress. The south of France can be expensive during the summer time (June to August) but after september the prices in accommodation goes down and the weather remains enjoyable until end of October with very mild winter.

For those willing both to learn French and discover the French culture, you can have a look at http://visite.bretagne.free.fr/index...fferently.html, if you expect to have a custom-made programme, not in a school, in Bretagne.

Some traditional classes are suggested (individual or very small groups), as well as tours mixing French language and visit. A real immersion formula is also possible, including accomodation.

I studied French at Langue Appart' in Paris for a few months and the experience was great! Small groups, lots of talking, good workshops. The atmosphere is very friendly. The perfect conditions to learn French! When I arrived, I used the school's accommodation service. I had a room for 500 euros a month at a lady's place. Hope it can help you!
