aer lingus, reserving seats ahead of time?

Hi, I recently booked a trip via American Airlines and had seats automatically chosen for the Aer Lingus flight. From everything I have read, you can only make changes to these seats by calling the airline 24 hours in advance. Does anyone know how to circumvent this? I'd prefer to take care of this prior to our travel overseas. Thanks in advance!

Is your flight trans-Atlantic or intra-Europe? For trans-Atlantic, call Aer Lingus to get your seat assignment. For intra-Europe, you can't get preassigned seat.

Its trans-Atlantic... I can't find a customer service number anywhere. Can anyone help me? I have this irrational fear of flying and would feel better if my husband was next to me for the long flight :) Thanks again!

Do you know how to use the internet very well to go to websites? If so, go to www.aerlingus.com and look in the section on "how to contact us", where they gives various phone numbers, etc., depending on the country you want.

I just purchased tickets to Dublin
-HOORAY!!!- yesterday on the Aer Lingus web site and our seats were automatically assigned. The location was not good. I called Aer Lingus, it took forever to talk to a "real person". The real person was very nice and changed the seats right away. From the USA the number is 1-800-474-7424.
