advice re train Frnkfurt to Naples

Seeking advice for friends traveling with their 85 year old mother from Frankfurt airport to Naples and back. They need a travel agent knowledgable in train travel between these locations to determine easiest transfers, etc.

Hi 10,

It's a 15 hr ride.

You can get train schedules from Frankfurt flughafen to Naples at
http://plannerint.b-rail.be/bin/query.exe/en?L=profi&

I think they would want to take the 18:54 to Munich, change to the night train to florence and then the train to Naples.

Yes, Ira's route is probably best. If you can give us some idea as to what time they would be arriving in Frankfurt and when (trains have somewhat different run times winter vs summer), we could probably come up with a schedule for you.

PErsonally speaking I wouldn't have a 85 year old woman travel for 15 or more hours by train from Frankfurt to Naples and viceversa, changing at least twice when there is LTU that has direct flights connecting the 2 cities in about 2 hours. Check www.ltu.com

LTU has a non stop flight Frankfurt to Naples, every Saturday at 2.30, so if you arrive on that day, you will have plenty of time to take the LTU flight.

AS an alternative, shouldn't you find any direct connection with LTU for your day of arrival, check with Lufthansa by calling the nearest toll free number in your country. They can have a flight from Frankfurt to Naples, connecting via another city.
The good thing about arriving early in the morning is that you have enough time to take come other flights.
Again, I would not suggest taking the train, because that would involve not only connecting at least 2 times, but also booking wagonlits if you want to travel comfortably with a senior, and wagonlits are quite expensive. Plus it's a long trip. You might at this point fly, takes less time and less hassle.
For train schedules and pricings call Raileurope too, they might help you much better. Or log on www.raileurope.com
