Advice Please - Barcelona to Pyrenees and Back

Hello! We are planning a trip to Barcelona arriving 27 May at 2:30 pm to 7 June flight leaving at 1:15 pm. There was supposed to be another event in Barcelona we were going to attend and it was rescheduled after we booked our flights. For this reason, we are thinking of making it a joint trip to the Pyrenees.

The travelers are myself, my husband, 2 daughters (12 & 6) and my in-laws. We would ideally like to rent a flat or cottage at each of our stops so we can stay together. Any advice is appreciated as I am only just beginning to plan this trip and I am completely unfamiliar with the area!

Thanks

You may want to get some guidebooks to find out what might interest you in that area. That would be for the Spanish and the French side of the Pyrenees. A round-trip covering both sides is very feasible. I made some suggestions here:

If you're going to do a driving trip through the Pyrenees, then you need to check out the following: www.pyreneesguide.com/

Renting a flat or cottage for a couple of days in different locations may prove difficult, but you can stay at some nice, smaller properties on both side of the Pyrenees. You can also choose two locations to use as a base, one on the French side and one of the Spanish side.

I like the Val d'Aran in the Catalan Pyrenees and the area around Carcassone and the Aude Valley in the Pyrenees Orientales, but there are a lot of choices to ponder.

You can click on my name to read my trip report from last October. We stayed in Girona for 2 nights & did spend a day driving through the Pyrenees. We made stops in Besalu, Ripoll, Rupit & Vic. Hope this helps.
