Advice on where to stay in Mykonos

Some friends and I are planning to visit Athens, Greece mid June. While there we want to take a short excursion to Mykonos for just 2 nights. Since the majority of our time and money will be spent in Athens, we want to find some place reasonable, yet nice and clean while in Mykonos. So we are trying to keep it under 150usd per night (lower if possible) Any suggestions? We are females ranging in ages (28-32) so we prefer to be where things are likely to be lively. Near beaches or center of town would be nice.
Thanks everyone.

Hi Virtuous1

This is difficult due to the higher lodging costs in Mykonos.

I know of one place though and, after checking, it fits both your budget (105e for a double room per night) and location preferences.

It's a terrific small family run hotel owned by a well known Mycononian family situated in the quiet Lakka district but only a few minutes walk to the restaurants, shops, harbour AND the bus station for services to the beaches. Read its reviews on Trip Advisor.

Your visit is short therefore I wouldn't think of staying at a hotel close to a beach when those can be easily reached from town. If you want things to be lively then Mykonos town in the evening is where you need to be. Then you need to get back to your beach location. Bus services are reduced late evening and as there are only 29 taxis on the island you may have a long wait to get one. That is OK if you were there for a week or more but not 2 days.

If the Carbonaki doesnt suit let me know and I'll suggest some alternatives just outside of town, say a 15 to 20 minute walk.

We're staying at the Hotel Galini in Mykonos Town (it's a few streets away from all of the restaurants/nightlife, so it's close to everything, but quiet)- it has some pretty good reviews on tripadvisor, plus it's very inexpensive.

Hi sue

Yes, the Galini is in Lakka and only 2 minutes or so from the Carbonaki.

Both are in a very good town location. Quiet but close enough to everything you need i.e. restaurants, shops etc.

Bill Barr:...question...what happened to the "Island Princess"(?)"..on its own quiet beach about a 15 minute walk to heart of town. We stayed there about 15 years ago and liked it vey much..pure white buildings...nice pool. It was the place where Ted Turner and Jane Fonda stayed whenever they were in Mykonos. I hope it hasn't been built up ad nauseam! Just curious. Thanks,
