Advice on two hotels
 

Has anyone heard of these hotels. Any advice? I've searched the sites but there are so many places, they are not all listed. We are going in November.

Venice - La Locandiera or Hotel Al Ponte Mocenigo (this last one is two minutes from San Marco - is that too close considering the possibility of flooding)

Rome - Daphne Inn

If you have any other suggestions that would be great. We are looking for under $200 with private bath and not a long hike up to the room.

Hotel Al Ponte Mocenigo is in Santa Croce, not near San Marco. La Locandiera is near San Marco.

I've stayed twice at Al Ponte Mocenigo and love everything about it. Tripadvisor has many glowing reviews.

I've also stayed a the Daphne Inn Trevi and think it s an incredible value and accommodation, especially for a first-time visitor to Rome.

Your header does not mention Italy--you may not get the best replies.
The Daphne is a good chocie in Rome. Look at Ca dei Dogi in Venice.

I love Al Ponte Mocenigo - I am staying there this coming April. My only other choice would be the Ca San Giorgio, which is a wonderful little gem of a hotel.

Just FYI - in Venice, when it "floods" it doesn't actually flood out places like hotels. The "high water" is a recurring phenom. and businesses, like hotels, are used to dealing with it. They have these metal gates they put up - look kind of like dog gates but solid with rubber sealing. Then on the main walk ways they put out these platforms about a foot or so high - almost look like little picnic tables all around the city. The water is kind of a nuisance, but not an actual threat. You needn't worry about getting flooded out of a hotel no matter what area of the city it is in.
