Advice on language course for adults in France
 

Hello,

I am planning to spend a week in South of France and would like to do immersion course. I have read a lot about the schools on Fodor and Tripadvisor and narrowed down my search to France Langue in Nice and Accent Francais in Montpellier. I would like to hear some views about both of these schools. In particular, if anyone studied in France Langue, please share your impressions as not much info available about this school.

if as you say, there's not much info available about them, I doubt that anyone here knows much about them either, but we might be able to offer some views about them if we see what they offer.

My French professor enthusiastically recommended Actilangue in Nice (where she had studied numerous times). Reasonably priced - I plan to attend in the next year or so.

Haven't studied there but you probably saw that France Langue has quite an internet presence, although that may not be what you want (Facebook, Youtube ). They do have a quality measure from the government, which is something

I am leaning towards France Langue as I think that Nice offers more opportunities to exlore other places in free time. I have never been in Montpellier though.

I didn't look at the links, but Accentfrançais at least sounds french, whilst France Langue doesn't.

Apart from that, their test is at least accurate - I did 100% and didn't see any stupid thing, and the program looks ok.

skyfly - what stage of learning French are you at? it could make a difference to which is the right school for you.

Annhig I m at low intermediate level, lack practice and confidence in conversational skills.

skyfly - I looked at both schools from the point of view of someone with your experience, and to be honest, I couldn't see a lot of difference. You really need a school that can cater quite closely to your level - too low and you'll get bored, too high and you'll be discouraged, which means that you need a fairly large school that has a reasonably large number of classes [not like the first one I went to in Italy which turned out to have only 4 students! - though fortunately we were all at more or less the same level, which was lucky!]

They both look good - personally, I'd love the chance to get to know Nice but I'm sure that Montpellier is nice too.

please come back and tell us which one you pick and how you get on - DH and I keep talking about doing a french course together.
