Advice on Eurostar from London to Paris
 

We will be traveling from London to Paris for a two-day, one night stay. Two questions regarding that travel.

1. Is it best to book your travel through Eurostar before we get there? Will that give you the best deal?

2. Are there other sites besides Eurostar that would give you a better rate?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! I'm sure I'll be posting more questions as our trip gets closer!

Buy well in advance on-line for the cheapest fares, I think 29.5 E/ each way. I think there are even specials sometimes (perhaps less so in the summer) so visit the website frequently. If you're only going one-way, buy a r/t fare anyway which is still cheaper than the one way and toss the return. Those value fares (particularly the good departure times) start to disappear 3-4 weeks before your departure so don't wait -- purchase as soon as you figure out your travel dates.

For the best prices, book ASAP (up to 120 days in advance) at www.eurostar.com. Prices vary widely for standard class tickets because they are based on time of day, day of the week, and a limited allotment of discounted seats. Here are your best prices (higher when the discounted seats are gone):

$90 US return: Depart and return between 11:00 and 15:00 Monday-Thursday.

$120 US return: Depart and return anytime Monday-Thursday.

$150 US return: Depart and return anytime and on any day of the week.

I agree w/ the others - book as soon as you know your schedule. It is like flying - walk up fares are MUCH more expensive than advance purchases.
