Advice on day trips from Athens
Would appreciate recommendations on two full day tours from Athens -- Mycenae/Epidaurus/Ancient Corinth and Delphi/Ousus Loukas/Arakhovia. The organized coach tours do not make all these stops, which I recall from a previous trip to Greece, but we only have 3 days in Athens this trip and want to see as much as possible. Thanks for any help. Mimi

Delphi was my favorite of the ancient sites we saw last year. The small town was charming, and the site itself was awe inspiring--all those pilgrims walking the Sacred Way seeking direction for their lives.

I enjoyed Delphi too.
A word of caution on any organised coach tours: Never eat at the restaurants they recommend - awful food and service. Find your own place. I went to a rather quaint little eatery full of locals who didn't speak a word of English, very simple, but delicous food. |
The Oracle of Delphi or island of Hydra... Very quaint and charming place, lots of great restaurants amd shops...Beautiful marina and nice beaches..You will fall in love with the place..But, Greece is small..Mykonos can also be considered close- only 2 hours by hydrofoil..

The Mycenae day trip is a pretty full day, but fascinating sites all of them! Do you mean that of your 3 days in Greece these are two of them? Wow, will you be exhausted at the end of them! Both Delphi & Mycenae involve a lot of uphill walking.

We did a two day trip with Key Tours to Delphi and Meteora, Meteora was amazing!!

I second the idea of Hydra island. It's a wonderful island very close to Athens.
Nafplion in Peloponese is also an option! |
