Someone who has been to Sicily. We did not go to Noto but sounds intriguing.

Great destination but you have some hard choices with just ten days. On the east side I would recommend Ortigia over Taormina, with day trips, but would probably go for the west as having more options. Note that you can certainly reach Trapani and Erice from Palermo by public transport, and I highly recommend both. I, too, have a TR if you click on my name, although it is a bit dated by now.
