Advice needed. Naxos this week, Should I go?

I am currently in Mykonos and have been thinking about going to Naxos tomorrow but whenever I mention this, especially to people living on the island they tell me that everything is closed or closes down at 5pm. I was wondering if anyone knows what it is like there now or in the coming week. I realize it is the end of the season and it may be quiet but I don't want to go to a ghost town either. I appreciate all input here.

Starting in mid-October the tourist infrastructure on all the islands begins to shut down for the winter. Naxos is no exception. You will still find some hotels, shops and restaurants that are open now but it will be very quiet compared to Mykonos.

Thanks Brotherleeluv,
Are any good restaurants still open? Shopping doesn't really appeal but the possibility of meeting other people always makes for a good experience. Let's not compare Naxos to Mykonos. Would you go? Why or why not?

Sorry, I can't give you specific info about Naxos, I was speaking in general terms. Would I go? Yes, if for no other reason than to get out of Mykonos into a less-intense, more authentic environment. I go to Paros, you might want to consider that one too. It's on the same ferry route.

Thanks. I will give it a whirl.
