Advice for Honeymooners?
My fiance and I are trying to decide exactly where in Italy to spend our honeymoon. Any suggestions for a couple that wants to see the sights but also relax and soak up the local flavor?
|
My FI and I are also going to Italy on our honeymoon and this will be our first trip as well. We are spending 3 nights in Rome, 2 nights in Tuscan countryside, 2 nights Florence, and 5 nights in Venice. We both really love the beach and had Positano on our list but because we also weren't budging with Venice we decided to do our relaxing in the countryside and Florence. We have reserved all of our rooms/suites with terraces and/or balconies. Our goal is to drink a lot of wine and coffee and sight-see leisurely.

I think you need to refine your question after doing some research here (type in various words in the search box like Italian honeymoon) and you'll get some ideas. Then take a look at the Italy destinations page on this cite for overviews and additional info. In other words, only you can determine whether the cities of Rome, Venice or Florence, the hill towns of Tuscany, the Italian lake district or the Amalfi coast are attractive to you. When you have narrowed your interests, told us how much time and money you have to spend, and told us the time of year you'll be honeymooning, I think you'll be able to post some specific questions which, if not already answered on this board, will draw some responses. Again, the info available on this board is incredible if you choose to use it.

Hi B,
How long? Venice, Florence and Rome make up the usual first-time 2 week visit. ((I)) |
What time of year?
|
we'll be there in May for about 12 days
|
be sure to include at least a few days in Venice
|
Hi B,
For 12 days in May, I would fly into Venice (4 nights), train to Florence (3 nights with a daytrip to Siena), train to Rome and fly home from there. Happy honeymoon. ((I)) |
Great advice from ira.
The weather will be nice in mid-May and your time in Florence and Rome shouldn't be prohibitively hot. As an added bonus, it's a lot less crowded in May than in June-August. Happy Honeymoon :-) |
