Advice for getting from our apartment in Ancient Rome to the Vatican

We are staying at the Ciancaleoni Loft at Via Ciancaleoni 45A and need to get to our meeting location at the Vatican no later than 6:30am to start a Breakfast at the Vatican tour. Does anyone have any suggestions as to a reliable form of transportation from our apartment to the Vatican that early in the morning? If we arrive late, we can be refused entrance to the breakfast/tour.

Any suggestions will be very much appreciated!

It looks to be about 2 miles, not a terrible distance to walk. Depending on the time of year it could be wonderful walking when the sun comes up. You could do a dry run and time it ahead of time. I love walking across Rome, something wonderful around every corner.

Metro. The entrance to the metro is on Via Leonina and Via Urbana, just a couple of minutes walk from Via Ciancaleoni (maybe 3 minutes depending how far down the street you are). Take the metro (line B) in the direction of Rebbibia. One stop you will be at Termini. Hop off and switch to line A direction Battistini. Get off at Ottaviano for St. Peter's and the Vatican Museums or you can go one more stop (Cipro) for the museums only.

Line B starts running at 5:35 and line A at 5:30. You can buy tickets (1.50€) the day ahead if you don't have transport passes and don't want to take the time to use the ticket machines that morning.

Is your meeting location near the museum entrance or St. Peter's? They are about a 15 minute walk apart so you need to know where to head once you exit the subway.

I would walk to the nearest big hotel and ask them to call you a taxi.

I just checked the voucher and here's what it says a out the meeting point:

Meeting Point:
At the bottom of the wide steps across the street from the entrance of the Vatican Museums. The steps are located between Caffè Vaticano and Hotel Alimandi Vaticano, on the corner of Viale Vaticano and Via Tunisi.

Is it hard to get a taxi that early in the morning? There will be five of us going.

No, you can get a taxi. You can call to have one pick you up. You can also walk up the steps right beside the Cavour metro entrance which takes you up to Via Cavour (Via Leonina and Via Urbana are like a level below Cavour). There is a big four star hotel (Hotel Palatino) at the top of the steps (to the right downhill) and there are always taxis there.

Yes, right across the street from the entrance to the museums.
