Advice for FCO to Termini

I read on another website that the FCO shuttle was horrendously crowded and the trip to Termini was a nightmare. The poster felt that it would be worthwhile to hire a driver to make that connection. Our ETA on June 27 in Rome is 7:45 am. Does anyone have experience/advice about the connection during the high season?

there are two huttle trains, one a potentially cattlecar 2nd class only train that goes to Ositence and Tiburtina stations and the first class only Leonardo Espress that goes non-stop to Termini - i think this train would not likely be seriously crowded but it costs much more.

The Leonardo Express can also be quite crowded. This was my experience on arrival at Fiumicino at about 12:00 noon on Sunday, 15 May, 2005. Rather than board a crowded train, I waited for the next train and travelled comfortably. There were people standing in the passages of the train, but not between the rows of seats.

If this discomfort is too much for you to bear, look into

www.limoservicerome.com

The rate for up to three passengers is 45 Euro.

We took the Leonardo Express. I think it was 9.50 each. Although it was busy, I didn't see anyone standing. It wasn't really like a subway or something.
To us (who were quite nervous about doing it for the first time) it was a breeze.

Hi ang,

3-4 people in a cab will be about 55E direct to your hotel.

The LDV charges 9.5E pp.

We too did the Leonardo Express and it wasn't that bad. Granted we were there in March and in December but the crowds weren't too bad. The trip wasn't that expensive and we got to Termini without any problems.
