Advice about hotels
 

Hi!

I'm leaving in a week for Europe and staying in hotels in for Paris, Florence, and Rome. I reserved hotel rooms some time ago, but I wanted to get some more feedback on the hotels.

Paris - Hotel de la Herse d'Or - 20 Rue Saint Antoine, Pairs 75004

Florence - Bed and Bed Cassia - Via Cassia, 2, Firenze 50144

Rome - Hotel Julia, Via Rasella, 29, Rome 00187

About me - Female solo traveller, 24 yrs old. Not looking for luxury, budget traveller.

A 150 Euros hotel in Paris is not a "budget hotel". I don't see the point of recommending 3-star hotels to a poster who clearly states the fact she is a budget traveller.

"for that price range I would consider other hotels a little more "posh" - Really? Is Hotel Trocadero, which gives me a minimum rate of 116 Euros in November (which means in September it's even more expensive) in the same price range as the Herse d'Or, which costs about 70?

I don't know your hotels, sam86, but I can advise on taking earplugs to your Paris hotel if you're a light sleeper, since rue Saint Antoine is noisy. The location of your Rome hotel in great.

I agree that 150 euro is not a budget hotel and not at all competitive in this case. Maybe 150 euro is budget to people who spend over 200 euro routinely on hotels, but to me, it is the top end of what I would spend in Paris (and I almost always spend less). To me, budget will be less than 125 euro for a double. That may not seem like a big difference, but it depends on the room -- for a single, it would be less.

The Herse d'Or will be fine, don't worry about it, but it may be noisy. Good location, though. At this date, there probably isn't really anything much you could do about it, anyway, to be honest, Paris is booked up far in advance for September. I always wonder why people ask about hotels when they've already booked them rather than in advance.

No harm in asking, this is how you get tips on the rooms, location etc. We have stayed very close to Hotel de la Herse d'Or and I think it's a great location. There is a "Paul" at 89 - 91 rue Saint Antoine (yes it's a chain but it's good) nice for croissants & cafe, macarons, sandwiches etc. There is also Café l'Arsenal; when you walk out of your hotel turn to the right, it's on the corner of Rue Birague and Rue Saint Antoine. Across the street from l'Arsenal (on Saint Antoine) is another restaurnt that we would go to for breakast, can't think of the name of it but you'll se it!
