Adventures in Cheltenham
 

Now that I have figured out , thanks to the boards, the best way to get to Cheltenhgam I was wondering if anyone has any must see suggestions. It will be my first time in the Cotswolds! Thank you again!!!

We stayed in Chentelham (Inn on the Park), rented a car there and drove around the Cotswolds. Chentelham is a larger town and a little tricky to drive around in with its one-way streets. We didn't do much there but a little shopping. We drove to Broadway, Stow, and the Slaughters which took a good day. If you're basing from Chentelham, you could drive the second day a different route.

Depending on how long you have in the area, here are my main suggestions (besides the ones Kathy already mentioned):<BR><BR>Hidecote Manor Gardens<BR>Hailes Abbey (absolutely ethereal)<BR>Chedworth Roman Villa<BR>Burford - especially its high street and church<BR>Cotswold Woolen Weavers<BR>Bourton on the Water -- BUT it gets VERY crowded so the only way to visit is to go about 9AM before any tour buses arrive. Between 9 and 10 AM it is a lovely quiet village with the river running along the main street. But get out of there by 10:30 because at 11 AM it becomes an absolute madhouse!<BR>Bibury<BR>Stanton/Stanway<BR>Gloucester Cathedral<BR>Blenheim Palace/Bladon churchyard<BR>Oxford<BR>Warwick

ADVENTURES in CHELTENHAM???? An oxymoron if ever I saw one! Maybe the local horticultural society is planning a coup. Bring your own sandwiches, thermos and a trowel.

Hi Monica<BR>Like Janis- I'd recommend Gloucester Cathedral- the cloisters are so beautiful and, for Harry Potter fans, some filming took place there. Burford Church is incredibly interesting. I'd also add Winchcombe and Sudeley Castle, not very far from Cheltenham and Chipping Campden for its perfect medieval main street(I'm going there this afternoon for a cream tea)!!
