<<< So if I wait till I get to the train station can I just get those tickets at the last minute? The prices will still be in about those ranges, and they don't sell out? >>>

I just did a dummy booking for today and that's the prices I get

Forgot to add - Christmas & New Year period tickets are now available, which means you can also find out which routes are being dug up and therefore it would be sensible to avoid them, make other plans or take it into account

I just came back from the UK. My trip report is Scotland, Wales and England without a car. I purchased all my tickets ahead of time at great prices. I do not have a chip credit card. I have a US Capital One Visa. I had no problem at the machine I used. Make sure you use the credit card you used on line. At my second destination there was no machine so the woman in the office printed my tickets. She notices I had many under my account. She printed them all, organized them in a folder so I was set to go for my entire trip.I cannot praise the UK train system enough. My trains were on time, comfortable and all the people I dealt with were extremely helpful.
