ADoes anybody know of a company similar to London Walks ??????
Hi again last minute hiccup with our plans.
London Walks are not doing any of the Explorer Day trips that we want during our time in London.
We are looking for the following:
Leeds & Canterbury
Cambridge
Hampton Court Palace.
I know Evan Evans do tours and I will do their Leeds one if I cannot find another one but theirs is a bit pricey and I did loved the London Walks version and it was a great price.
Hampton I know how to get there but would have liked to go with a small group.
And the same with Cambridge.
But if there are any suggestions I would appreciate the advise..

Not sure why you need a tour to go to HCP. It has an excellent audioguide as well as free costume-guided tours for several parts of the Palace. I personally prefer to wander around HCP at my own pace with my own personal guide (audioguide) than following a group. I have taken 2 of their costume-guided tours and they were entertaining.

This isn't going to be a lot of help - but if you can't find what you need on the net or here you will certainly find it at your hotel.
Every hotel in london has a rack of leaflets for this sort of thing in the foyer.
I'm assuming you mean Leeds Castle and Canterbury? (The town Leeds is in the north - where it's grim)

You do not need any sort of tour to HCP - for sure. Why pay someone to take you somewhere you can get to so easily and much cheaper??
Same w/ Cambridge. Just take the train to Cambridge. The Tourist Office in Cambridge offers very good walking tours of the city and colleges.
As for Leeds Castle -- It is no great shakes - honest. It does have lovely grounds but the castle is mainly a wedding and conference center. Just take the train to Canterbury and walk around - it is a very small city.

Thanks for your response. I went HP by myself last time and enjoyed it.
Thought by going in a small group get to know people maybe have a laugh. But quite happy to it alone.
thanks again

I will be in London with my husband and on my own for a couple of days while he works. How do you get to Hampton Court Palace and how long does it take? I love the idea of a costumed tour guide. Thanks.

Well, actually found quite a bit of information at the web site:

Is it really necessary to buy tickets online to avoid the lines?

Deb, there's a Guide Friday coach tour, HOHO, which leaves from the rail station. I did that when I went up to Cambridge for a day trip. The guide was a Cambridge grad, and talked about his wife attending there as well. The tour takes you past a cemetery for American soldiers who died in WWII. How I wish I'd gotten out of the coach and wandered around there. There's a suggestion for you.....
