Don't know the hotel but there is a train station in the airport.

Trains leave every 10-15 minutes and the ride is only 10-12 minutes.

I stayed there several years ago and it was delightful. The train station is a short walk away. This is the best with two people. However with 4 a cab doesnt cost much more.Ask before you get into the cab how much.any other info about area Id be happy to help. chow

I live near the Alder and would not agree that the train station is a short walk away, it is over 1 km at least and with luggae would be a long walk. You can either take the train to the main train station (Hautbanhof) and then take the #4 Tram (direction to Bellevue) and get off at Rathaus (3rd stop). However, if you have never been to Zurich and if you don't speak German or Swiss German, then I would suggest taking a taxi from the airport. It will cost you about US$50, but it beats getting lost. You might also check with the hotel to ask if they have a shuttle, many hotels in the area cooperate in a joint shuttle service.

The hotel is in a pedestrian only area (alhtough taxis can go through), and if you don''t know the streets, it can be difficult to locate.

Several people on this site have noted that the Alder is noisy at night as it is in the main bar area of the city. I would agree, espcially if you will be there from May through Sept. If you are coming in the next few months, that should be OK. If you are coming in the summer months, you should ask for an inside room or a room off the main sqaure on which the hotel is located.

I'd take the train downtown and the taxi just from the train station. This is the quickest way, and far cheaper than a cab from the airport.
Agree, that walking with luggage is definitely not the best thing nor taking the tram, especially, when not familiar and jetlagged.
Taxi will cost you some CHF 15.- from the train station.

Have a look a their web site, I think there is a shuttle service from the airport to the hotel itself.
www.hotel-adler.ch

I will be staying at the Adler in Feb; Can you recommend any good restaurants within walking distance, and pubs/bars that are fun? We're 35 and not really into the stand in line club scene, but do like to have drinks in nice, hip places.

The Adler itself has quite a good restaurant known for cheese dishes.
Two places nearby the Adler I like are the cozy Barrique Vinothek, Marktgasse 17. Fine for a glass of wine and some cheese.
Don't miss the famous Cafe Schober on Napfgasse 4, famous Viennese style patisserie with terrific hot chocolate.

A hip bar/lounge is the Terrasse, LImmatquai 3, next to the Bellevue.
