Adding Malaga to Our Itinerary

Hi guys,

We are revising our itinerary a bit and thinking about adding Malaga. We like charming old towns with pedestrian streets and cafes. We will want to avoid the high rises the best we can.

Should I be looking for a place in Centro Historico?

Thanks in advance!

We rented from Solaga and had a fabulous place two blocks from the cathedral. They have a lot of nice options.

Thanks all!

Indy, any chance you know of a rental company in Madrid as well?

We’ve twice rented from a woman named Gorete who lists on VRBO and Airbnb under the name At Home in Madrid. You might do a Google search using those names to find the apartments. I found her after another Fodorite rented from her.

Thanks Indy! Always difficult to find apartments.

Solaga has some lovely apartments (like yours)! I had a beautiful place rented for 3 weeks in September 2021 (by the Marriott) but canceled when covid infections spiked. We spent a month in Malaga earlier this year but unfortunately that unit was off the market.

To the OP - we have stayed in the historical area for 3 extended stays and love it. So much to do and great dining.

We have rented from this company twice - they have nice inventory and are very responsive

Another "Yes" vote here. We loved Malaga. I think we stayed two or three nights. More charming than people give it credit for, I think.

I agree with halfpair. Malaga is more charming and more interesting than people give it credit for.

We really enjoyed Malaga, too. Lots to do and good food and wine. The market is to die for. We at lunch every day there.
