Active Italy
Odd question (at least to the extent that I haven't seen it on here)
Anyone done anything active/exciting in Italy.? Will be doing the normal sightseeing but we always like to try and find something adventurous. Any thoughts? |
Try paddling around Venice by kayak.

Riding Rome busses with a fat wallet in the back pocket.

Taking this a tad more seriously, lots of windsurfing at the Riva end of lake Garda.
also many companies offering walking/cycling tours, eg www.headwater.com you could also look in TA for recommended activities - it's surprising how many there are there. |

Lot's of biking in southern Tuscany (many bike companies in Siena).

A helpful reponse would be aided with more information from you--where and when will you be traveling? My first reaction was to suggest hiking or climbing in the Dolomites but that would assume you would have access and be in the area. Another favorite spot would be the Piano Grande in southern Umbria--once again, off the well worn paths of "normal sightseeing".

Hike the Dolomites !

Well I can see my thought, hike in the Dolomites, has been posted. And a good suggestion it is!

Look at the Backroads itineraries for lots of ideas. Obviously, the timing of your trip will make options more or less desirable because of weather and temps.
