Acropolis Athens
 

It was 40 years ago since I last visited the Pathenon and the group I traveled with got rooms close to Monistiraki Square
One gal ,a Canadian had been to Athens before took us to a set of old stairs not far from our rooms which led up to Acropolis

Now I dont know if they are still there or even in use --dont think I could find them after 40 yrs anyways

So when there next year where can I find the official entrance and what is entrance fee please

We cheated and took a taxi who let us off at the right place. I honestly don't remember what the entrance fee was but it was not a lot - what I remember was how incredibly hot it was so do bring lots of water, and if possible go early or at night. enjoy (we actually much preferred Delphi but you would need a car to get there)

We were there right after the 2004 Olympics and lots of improvements had been made to the walkways up to the top.

If you google search "Acropolis Athens" you would be quickly pointed to http://odysseus.culture.gr/h/3/eh355.jsp?obj_id=2384 which describes the entrance fee, hours, and locations of the entrances. Why does it have to be "the official entrance?" All entrances are "official".

Do not rely on information, mainly prices, on theathensinfoguide site mentioned above, it hasn't been updated for at least 6 years!

I also stayed near Monastiraki Square last year. There is indeed a stair leading to the Acropolis from the square. I didn't even use a map: you see the hill clearly from the square and you can go up by any path you want. Kinda like All paths lead to the Parthenon.

Don't know if you qualify, but there is a lift (elevator) for the disabled to bring people up the Acropolis.

Am actualy excited bout returning as after Britain
Greece was my first "foriegn" country on first ever
trip to Europe.

I was just in Athens. As well as visiting the Parthenon be sure to go to the New Acropolis Museum. I also visited the New Contemporary Arts Museum near the Sygrou-Fix metro stop. It was the old Fix Beer Factory and has been beautifully renovated. Obama was in Athens on my visit and security was super tight.

Don't want to rain on your parade Coolmover, but it can require more than a limp and a grimace to authorize use of the lift; only people I've seen getting off it, either were in wheelchair, on crutches, or bent over w. 2 canes. Hope you are not in that state yet. If you do get a disability certification, in order to have hopes of using the lift, you'll need to make advance arrangements -- since 2015, unable to make advance reservation, but must telephone 1-2 in advance to assure that lift is working. Thanks for your help and to all that added their bit as I have a good feeling knowing I have solid info

I myself have acquired 2 WONDERFUL trekking sticks for $27 each on Amazon, each folds up the size of a 5 x 8 flat pack in my luggage and unfolds in a twinkling - bling! (parts snug together bungee cords inside). With these, my knees ably go up steep hills, even the Acropolis & I'm waaay older than you!
