accomodations in Lucerene
 

We will be in Lucerne early June. Does any one have recommendations for accommodations for $200 or less? thank you

Well, you could try the Hotel Royal but it is a bit of a walk from the old town.

You would walk along the lake promenade to the very posh Palace
Hotel, cross the road at the funicular entrance to the Hotel Montana and continue up the sidewalk (up hill) to the Royal. It is a big yellow hotel that looks like a house.

The owner is a very lovely woman.

I don't like staying in town because I think it is too noisy.

I love the Montana, but it is more than your budget allows.

Many, many years ago I stayed in the Hotel des Alpes; it was lovely and in a great location. I still occasionally see it mentioned on here, with the same kind of review I would have given it back then.

This question is asked fairly regularly so you may get good value in looking at previous posts.

Yes, a little research would turn up quite a few threads - and quite a few recommendations for the Hotel des Alpes. It isn't a fancy place, but it suited my needs.

We stayed at Hotel Hofgarten last summer and were very pleased with the location, price, and appointment of the rooms. Rooms are around the rate you are looking for. It is not air conditioned, but it was not a problem during our stay.

$200 or less is a tough call for Lucerne in June (like anywhere in Switzerland) if you want to stay in a decent hotel, 3star category or comparable. The Des Alpes will be slightly higher, probably $230 per night, plus local taxes ($4 per person).

I've stayed in two hotels that are within your budget.

The Alpha Hotel is a basic hotel, a bit out of the center, but not terribly inconvenient.

Last summer, we stayed at Le Stelle. It's sometimes more than you want to pay, but I just checked on www.booking.com and see that they're offering 30% off on the days I chose, with brings it well within your range. This hotel is right in the center, again a simple hotel, but quite comfortable. The reception and breakfast room are in a nearby hotel, so you have to enter with a key code. The elevator is very odd, sort of like an oversized dumbwaiter. You had to press a lever to keep it moving.

Because of a festival I am having trouble finding a room Saturday, June 4th. The other 2 nights the hofgarten is 300chf and the alps is 285. I can get a b&b but still only for Sunday and Monday night. So, we will be coming from Lauterbrunnen and plan to stop in Engelberg on the way so what if we stayed in Stans or some other town outside of Lucerne ? Does anyone have any thoughts on one of the towns outsid of Lucerne .
