Accomodations in Dubrovnik
 

Anybody have any suggestions on where to stay in Dubrovnik? Interested in staying in old town area in either a hotel or private home. Will be traveling in mid September. Thank you

If you are travelling by car then just drive into the general area where you want to stay and there will be signs up all over for rooms and apartments to let. September is a bit slower than the summer months and there should not be a problem finding something nice.

I stayed ten days in the Stankovich House. Usually I stay only in Hotels, but this time around I wanted to try something new and now I am very glad I did it. Staying with the Stankovichs was just like staying in a Hotel in terms of the accommodations. I had a private bathroom and my own room key. Additionally, I had a kitchen which I could use at any time while never having to do the dishes. I also had balcony access with a private table and an unbelievable view. The place was really clean and I was able to enjoy my privacy when I wanted it. However, when I wanted to mingle, the whole family was very friendly and helpful in terms of advices and answering questions. I was also treated to a few home cooked meals which were way better than anything I tried in the restaurants. That gave me a chance to experience the local specialties instead of the boring and standardized things on the menu. The best part of staying with the Stankovich family was being immersed in the local culture. Every time I was in a Hotel I never met any locals, just tourists like me. This way I was always confused about where to have the best time and which are the most beautiful and undiscovered places to see. Zoran and Igor were way cool. They took me under their wings and showed me the local scene. With their help I was not only able to see how the locals really are but be a part of them as well. Without you guys this would have been impossible. Thanks, I will come back again.

We're staying 4 nights at the Stankovich's late September.Your posting confirms our choice.They are very obliging as we're concerned about climbing 300 steps to their house so they offered to pick us up if need be (at no cost perhaps because I told them that we're in our 60s).How was the climb? How did you manage? Thanks.

we just returned a couple of weeks ago, and we stayed in "Apartment Magic" - - which is just outside the walls of the old city (so more quiet to sleep - - the walled city is very noisy) and the view from there - - both our room and the patio - - is spectacular. Also, the hosts could not have been more wonderful - - Sergius and Suada. Just google (I think) Magic Line Tours and look for Apartment Magic, or even just google "Apartment Magic Dubrovnik" We loved it and would stay there again.

We are going to Dubrovnik in November and have booked Apartment Antonela. It is supposed to be about a 5-10 minute walk to the old town. The owners seem very friendly thus far and the apartment itself looks quite nice. Our one bedroom apartment with balcony and sea view is fifty euros per night.

If at all possible stay at Villa Adriatica. I stayed there a week and I guarantee there is not a hotel or apartment that has a better view or is closer to old town. If you doubt it, i can email you my pics. I stayed in Room 1, there are 4 rooms total. The family was great. Room 1 was 90 Euros a night but they could charge much more if they wanted to.

I showed up a day early and stayed at the Hilton Imperial Palace (179 Euros) but i would take the apartment any day of the week. When you look at the website the picture just does not capture how close it is but here is the link http://www.dubrovnik-online.com/villa_adriatica

i agree with chavez. we, too, stayed at villa adriatica room #1. room just ok, but location was great. 50' from gate to old town and the terrace is over-looking the old port. many apartments over-looking the old town are up steep hills so be careful.....

We were thrilled with our 5 night stay at the Benussi sobe which is just a 2 minute walk from the Hilton, just outside of the Pile Gate. Our double room, with small kitchen area, wonderfully clean bathroom, excellent a/c and satellite TV was just €50 a night. They have a terrace with a small sea view which was wonderful, and we shared drinks and good conversation here a couple of nights with Jadranka Benussi. Jadranka is incredibly warm and friendly. You have your own key to their home, and come and go as you please. They also have 2 apartments for families. There is a good bakery and grocery store right outside the Pile Gate.
