accomodations in Appenzell or near Lake Konstanze
 

We will spend the last leg of our trip in Appenzell or Konstanz. Any recommendations of which. We will have one day to visit the lake area and one day to visit St Gallen (library) and Appenzell. Then we will drive the last day to Zurich for a 2PM flight. I would like to keep the price between 150 and no more than 200 and less is even better. I am most interest in clean and location. When we stayed in town we used the then Romantik-Santis hotel but I have no idea if it even exists these days. The village is SMALL so just about anywhere, location-wise, might be OK.

May I suggest you try to visit the nearby abbey in ST. Gallen as well as the attached library. They are both very well worth the time and effort IMO.

I apologize for not having more thoroughly read your post. I think you will enjoy your visit. The place is so stereotypically "Swiss" it almost looks fake. The cowbells, the landscape,the painted shutters, the whole deal.

We stayed here while in Konstanz.

Apartment Hotel Konstanz

It was not the most exciting hotel but the rooms were enormous and reasonably priced. Ours had a kitchenette and small table with four chairs so we could enjoy a glass of wine and snacks. Exactly what we wanted for our family. Breakfast was included in the room rate and we were pleased with that too.

There was a grocery store within walking distance so we stocked up on a few things for the room.

Another place my husband has stayed is the Birger Eck and thought it was fine.
