Accomodations for families in Paris
 

Does anyone have suggestions for a family of 5 (10,13,15) to stay in Paris? We'd like to stay in 1 room and we'll have a car. We prefer budget rates.<BR>Thanks for your help.<BR>Joan Barlow

I'm not sure about one room but you might want to try www.leregent.com<BR>It's a budget hotel, pretty nice, close to the metro and the people that run it speak English. You get free breakfast. I'm not sure about parking.<BR>It's right near Mont Martre, which overlooks Paris. You can go to the nearby supermarket and grab some traditional French foods (bread, cheese, wine, meat) and have it on the hill, watching the sun set. Great memories for your family !<BR>Enjoy Paris ! Most important phrase to learn - "do you speak English, please" !! And a smile goes a long way too ! Sounds silly, but the French love when you try to speak their language. <BR>You can buy a metro pass if you don't want to drive around Paris while you're there. <BR>Have fun ! :)

I don't think any hotel will go for 5 in a room.There are ordinances for occupancy per room etc.You will probably have to go for the extra room or get an apt.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Republique last year. The rooms are large it was fine for my family of 4, they serve an American style breakfast that's included in your hotel rate. You can also try these chains they specialize in family rooms, Novotel and Mercure you can call the Accor Hotel Group for information on the Novotel and Mercure.

There was a thread on this exact topic once and I do recall there were at least two hotels with rooms in Paris for five people. Now, that's not much in the whole city, but there are a couple. I seem to recall one was the Hotel Marignan which is definitely budget in the Latin Quarter (on rue Sommerard, as I recall). I don't remember the other one, but the thread is still around so maybe you could find it, I'm not sure the best search word. Oh, I know, try the word "marignan" as that was in the post.

Joan, while checking for my family and myself (but we're only three people) I saw that the Hotel de Saint Germain has family rooms. This hotel is owned by same owners that manage the Fleurie (but Fleurie's family rooms are nicer, however, much pricier). Hotel de Saint Germain is much cheaper than Fleurie but the rooms are much smaller I understand. However, the family rooms they offered us are two connecting rooms with full bathroom in each room for only 240 Euros/night. After much debating we decided to stay in Montparnasse because we're splitting up our stay and when we return we'll be staying longer in St. Germain des Pres. Like I said comments say the rooms are pretty small and the street is a bit noisy and the family rooms face the street. But it seems like a good value. Their buffet b'fast seems pretty good although it's extra.<BR><BR>Other than that I can only think that you should ask for connecting rooms or adjoining rooms in another hotel OR rent an apartment.<BR><BR>Good luck.

We have reserved a room (1) for our family of 5 evidently there are 2 hotels that do this and most are near the Republique one is the Home Plazza Bastille and the other is the Home Plazza St. Antoine. I can't recommend it since I haven't stayed there yet and it is a bit towards the edge of town just near the Bastille (july column).

Hi Joan,<BR><BR>We stayed at the Tonic Hotel in May, it was clean and the room was good size. $183 euros a night, I know it's not budget but not too outlandish either. <BR>A double and 3 single beds. I think it was room 502 and it had a jacuzzi bath and steam shower. Their website is www.tonichotel.com. It's in the 1st arrond. a couple blocks from the Louvre and Notre Dame. <BR><BR>Alyssa

I stayed at the Home Plazza St. Antoine. Every room has a kitchenette. There are suites with several bedrooms and a kitchen. It was a very pleasant stay
