Accomodation suggestions for Italy
Does anyone have any recommendations for accomodation in Rome? I would like something safe, clean and central to popular tourist sights. I hope to spend no more than $100 Australian. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Is that for a single or a double?
This has been discussed a lot. Try these: http://www.pensionepanda.it - haven't stayed here http://www.hoteljulia.it (if you're looking for a single - check out their "single economical" rooms). I stayed here and liked it very well. |
We stayed at Pension Gioia - www.gioiabedandbreakfast.it - it cost Euros 78 per double including breakfast. Room was airconditioned and the location was wonderful - not far from the main railway station but very quiet and clean.

Can you tell me more about Pension Gioia? When did you stay? and for how long? Where are you from?

Yes, JOFROMMELBOURNE, tell us where you are from!
Sorry, couldn't resist it! :) Jim |

Don't see any clues to discern which. |
We are from Australia - thanks for your interest.
I looked through Rome accommodation for ages trying to find something that we could like that didn't cost a fortune. We tend to make long (11 weeks) trips and we need to watch our budget. Pension Gioia was good because it was quiet and has a lovely courtyard behind it where you have breakfast. The breakfast was not elaborate - you sort of help yourself in the kitchen and take it out to the courtyard - but it was Ok. And the people were very helpful and arranged for our car to be garaged in a place close by for very little money. Public transport is quite close by. We stayed 4 nights in September 2002. Hope this helps. |
