accomodation suggestions
Have a bustling 3 week itinerary for first time in Italy & France - 2 adults/ 2 teenage girls. Aug 7 -28/08
Rome 4 nights, Florence 2 nights, Cinques Terra 5 nights, Venice 2 nights fly to Nice. Nice /Provence 5 nights,(train or fly to Paris - but could drive???) Paris 3 nights. Rail travel in Italy (might get a car for two days). Time in Cinque Terra & Nice for relaxing in the sun after touring cities. Any accomodation suggestions ? Like authentic character, views, terraces - moderate prices . Thanks |
Hi beachcomber, but are you talking about this year, if so and with four of you you had better book very soon and as it is peak season. Try apartments for better pricing for a family of four.We have tried with luck www.vacationinparis.com for Paris, www.sleepinitaly.com for Rome and www.sleepinginflorence.com for Florence apartments. Hope you are in luck.

HI B,
A: This August, and you don;t have accomodations yet? B: 5 nights on the CT and only 2 in Venice? I would reverse them. ((I)) |
a few comments:
1) You might do better if you re-post w/ a more meaningful title. "accomodation suggestions" could be asking about anyplace in Europe. 2) When you re-post, tell us what you mean by "modrate prices". How much do you want to spend? 3) If you mean this Aug., you are leaving in just over one month. You need to work fast - and be very lucky - to find places that meet your requirements. |
I know it's late...but we can be flexible if necessary. Thanks for the info on apartments...have sent a number of requests out already
|
I would try Priceline at this late date.

I also would flip some things around to get a few more days in both Venice and Paris.
With no reservations and only a month to plan, personally I'd skip car rentals to keep the logistics and planning more simple (using train and plane). |
Agree that I'm not sure why you're spending so many nights in the CT and NIce versus Venice and Paris - unless you've been to the latter before. (Can;t imagine what to to for 5 days in CT - would be bored stiff.)
But your big problem is going to be hotels (you're not in most places long enough for apartments). Ar eyou looking for 2 rooms or one family room for 4 - and what is your budget. All of europe is traveling in August and most have made reservations already - so you should be prepared to expand your budget to find someplace decent. |
Just make your reservations ASAP. I did an Aug trip and made my reservations now and it was fine.
Let us know your budget and we can help. Also I would add much more time to Paris, another day or two each to Florence and Venice. Also, you'll be there during the Palio in Sienna which is worth going to. Sienna is near Florence. The girls should like it |
