Accomodation in Seville, Spain..pls. HELP!!
 

Hi there

I will be on vacation with my hubby to the Andalucia during Easter. We would like to use Seville and Granada as our base and take daily return trips to other towns if possible. Is it recommended to do so? Besides, any good and inexpensive hotels (below Euro 80 per night) recommendation for both places? Thank you.

Hi, I can't help you specifically with Seville because we stayed at the Casa de la Juderia and it cost more then 80 Euros. I do know in Spain there are small family owned hotels, not as nice as B&B's, but nicer then dives. They are called hostels, but they are not youth hostels. We stayed in one in Madrid and it was only 37 Euros and very clean with a nice bath. Perfect for somewhere to sleep and clean up. I think it also included breakfast. Check the web site for madridman.com. It has hostels and cheap hotels all over Spain. Also maybe try priceline. I don't know if they have places in Spain, but if they do you will find something. For that period of time I suggest you make your Seville arrangements as soon as possible. There are all kinds of booking engines for hotels and inns in Spain and doing a Google will bring them up.

Holy Week is a VERY busy time in Seville, hotels book up waaaay in advance, and, unfortunately, prices rise.

In Sevilla, I stayed at Hotel Alcantara, a reasonable hotel in Barrio Santa Cruz on a little pedestrian street. I'd recommend it. www.hotelalcantara.net, or www.innsofspain.com

In Granada, I stayed at the Hotel Anacapri, at the base of hte Albacian district and a 10 minute walkt to the Alhambra. http://www.hotelanacapri.com/ingles/centro_in.htm

These were both nice hotels in good locations at reasonable prices - they are not fancy, but they are within your budget and I would definitely stay at either one of them again.

I also recommend the Alcantara in Seville. Its about as good as you can do for a cheap hotel that is still friendly and clean. Don't forget the rate includes breahfast!

Depending on the length of your vacation, you may want to consider a night or two in one of the white villages, and a night or two in Nerja. Realize that Seville and Granada are fairly large cities, and driving out into the countryside for day trips could be an ordeal. In Seville, we stayed at the Amadeus, which ran about $95 a night. However, this hotel was in the old Jewish quarter(very exotic), and driving in and out of it for day trips is not soemthing I would relish. Granada is a little smaller and easier to get in and out of, so you may be able to do day trips to the mountains just south of the city. Fot the white villages, we stayed at a very charming, small new villa style hotel, the Arriadah, which was about $80 a night with breakfast. It was in beautiful country, on a hillside with 'Sound of Music' type views, just outside Ronda.

In Sevilla, we stayed at the Hostal Roma, and in Granada we stayed at the Hotel Macia Plaza. Both of them were clean, pleasant, and well-priced, though not luxurious.

Oh, and to repeat what zwho said, the hostales are nice, clean, small places that are a good bet for budget travelers. No restaurants or room service, but who wants to stay in the hotel when you have Spain to explore!

Definitely check out hotel alcantara in the Barrio Sta Cruz of Sevilla. We went during low season, paid about 78 EUR and found the hotel to be clean, with nice, strong A/C, spacious enough rooms, very friendly service, plus there's a little flamenco house next door. The location couldn't be beat--plently of restaurants within walking distance, as well as the Cathedral and Alcazar.
