Accomodation in Amsterdam
I am new to the Netherlands. Will be there on holidays next May 2014.
Can anybody recommend me a specially nice hostel or Bead & Breakfast? I am a single man, I am 32 and this will be my first time in Europe (have so much expectations about the trip). I live in Buenos Aires. |

Wow jamikins! This looks superlative!!! thanks a lot!!
However I find it somehow expensive for my budget =S Maybe a homy place will do if anybody knows one to recommend, that would be an enormous help to me. best wishes everyone ;-) |
We were very pleased with the hestia hotel located in the museum quarter. Breakfast included and free internet. The canal is quite nearby and Vondelpark is on the doorstep> Great location and transport options. A single room is under 100m euro

I don't know your budget, but we enjoyed the Hotel Fita also in the museum area. It is run by a lovely family and they served a wonderful breakfast.

If you give your budget it would help us make recommendations

Sorry, it seems I have not been very clear =P.
The point is I am traveling alone and still got no contact in Amsterdam. Therefore will need a place to get in contact with people and hang out, visit places, any stuff like that. I am looking for a hostel (not hotel) because that seems to be a good starting point to socialize. Alternatively looking for B&B because it's warmer than a hotel. About budget... I just rejected boogaard because five stars is a bit too much for me. Just 4 or 3 would do fine. Thanks again to everyone for your feedback :-) |
From the posts I could find it seems most of the users here are hotel-kind
|
You still haven't given us a budget...how much do you want to spend in euros.
Boogaards may be 5 star but if your budget is €130 a night then it is in your budget. The star program in Europe is not the same as the USA in General. |
There are a few websites which list hostels and give reviews. If you Google for hostels in Amsterdam you will find them.
May is a popular time to be in Amsterdam so don't leave it too long to book something. You can also search for B&Bs, and maybe consider staying outside Amsterdam, in Haarlem or somewhere similar for lower prices. |
We liked the Hotel Residence le Coin in Amsterdam. Not a hostel and not a B&B, but it does offer breakfast is you want it. The rooms have kitchenettes.
It's in a great central location. Very clean and fairly new. |
A very nice b&b is http://www.citycenter-amsterdam.com

There are two hostels - The Shelter and The Shelter Jordaan that are well run and welcoming. Be aware that The Shelter is in the red-light district. The Shelter Jordaan is in a more sedate part of the city, so depending on what you are looking for....but both have common areas where travelers hang out and socialize.
