Accommodations In Vienna

Hi Everyone!

Can you guys recommend some accommodations for me in Vienna? I have been looking at Travel Advisor and they have a wide range of places so it gets overwhelming for me! Also, a quick question. What's the difference between a Pension and a Hotel? Do they have private bathrooms in the rooms of pensions? Will appreciate all suggestions and recommendations!

Thanks!

Usually a pension is smaller and simpler than a hotel. Variances abound, though.

A very nice boutique hotel in Vienna is the Hotel Kaiserin Elizabeth. It's a four-star, and moderately expensive. Very nice breakfast buffet included.. Located centrally, right by the Stephansdom. I can personally recommend it highly.

If you search this forum for Vienna pensions and hotels, you will find other suggestions. Pension Pertsky, Pension Suzanne, and Hotel Konig von Ungaren are often mentioned, for example.

Hi, I can recommend the Hotel Pension City, a small hotel, quite economical in a suburb location right near Stephansplatz. I wrote a little review of it in my trip report, which actually I'm still working on, and will post the Vienna part of shortly. Here's the thread with the hotel review: http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=35152085

Pension Nossek on the Graben (pedestrian area). You can walk to most sights from here and the subway and trams are close. 110 - 115 Euro for a double. They do have private bathrooms in the rooms.

We will be staying at the Pension Suzanne in September. It seemed to have a good location and a good price.

We also liked the Kaiserin Elizabeth. It is in a great location and the staff was very nice.

Has anyone stayed at Pension A und A or Hotel Rathaus?

Thanks!

This was another place I was looking at The Levante Parliament. Has anyone stayed here?

Have you thought of renting an apartment for the period of time? It, of course, depends on how long you plan to stay, but many apartments are available for just a few nights. There are many benefits to doing this aside from the obvious cost savings. Here's one to consider http://www.netland.at/wien/jilemicky/.

I have stayed here before and the owner is wonderful...true Austrian warmth and class. So much so, that I will be staying there again this Christmas.

we also stayed at Pension Suzanne. Great breakfast. Small room but clean and decorated elegantly. Great location near Opera House. We walked everywhere.

I have stayed at two small hotels in Vienna, Hotelpension Arenberg (which is a Best Western property but still has the posh Vienna feel) with just 22 rooms and Hotel Drei Kronen. Both had private baths and the room at Drei Kronen was a little smaller. Drei Kronen had an excellent buffet breakfast and is near the university so some professors stay there. It is just outside the ring. Arenberg is inside the ring and has a nice breakfast with homemade muslei. Both are very convenient to the U-Bahn and the sights.

We stayed at the Pension Suzanne in May. Great price, substantial breakfast; and BEST location! Right in the heart of things....The staff was very helpful in giving suggestions, making reservations, providing use of the computer. We'd definitely stay there again.

I am booked at Aviano, My Secret Home, for 3 nights in December. Wonderful reviews on multiple travel boards, great rates and they have been an absolute pleasure to deal with.

The Levante Parliament is a very nice design hotel-usually many vip's are staying there!

I like the look of the jilemickey apartment - but I'm a bit afraid of the "self tormenting towels"

I loved Hotel Austria. Great location, good price, pleasant staff, terrific breakfast. I'd go back there again in a flash.

Hi- I was looking on the Kaiserin Elizabeth Hotel website, what is the difference between a single room and a double room? Can a single fit 2 people comfortably or would i have to get a double? Thanks.

PeaceOut Dec 23rd, 2008 11:08 AM

We had the 'family' room at the Kaiserin Elisabeth, so I don't know the difference between a single and a double.

I'd e-mail the hotel and ask them. They are quite good at responding to inquiries. (Do not try to sneak a person into this hotel. It is quite small and personal.)
