Accommodations in Rome
 

We'll be in Rome next May and are looking for a reasonably priced place to stay within the city. Any suggestions?

First suggestion: do a search here for Rome hotels and many threads with suggestions will appear.

Second suggestion: What is "reasonable" to you? How many euros for how many people in one room?

Will do - am new to all this.
Reasonable would be probably in the neighborhood of 100 euros/night - 2 people/room.

I stayed at this apartment, literally yards from the Trevi one way and the Palace the other. If there are two couples it works out at a reasonable price each.

Everything was walkable and only took metro to the Vatican, but to be honest that was only to save our feet for when we got there. Loads and loads of restaurants on the door step.

The kettle was a bit temperamental, but other than that, good value for money.

Hm, then the apartment I recommended may be a little cramped. However I would thoroughly recommend the site. I've used it all over Europe and it has always been accurate and good value.

Still check out the references to be sure, but if it says clean and basic, it will be so. If it says good location and luxurious then ditto. You deal with the property owners direct.

For 3 couples? How long? An apartment might give you all more space.

Going to be hard to find much for 100 euro night in Rome in May. Go to Venere.com and do a search. That will be a good starting place to determine what will be in your price range.

A very good location in the Trastevere, a nice b&b that in essence is a tiny hotel with a few rooms, nicely appointed and with charming people in charge, always ready to help out.

I second the recommendation for Arco del Lauro. Loved the location, the room was fine, the price was reasonable, and yes, the hostesses are helpful and charming, indeed!!
