Accommodations in Paris
 

I found the below apartment in the Monmarte district in Paris to stay at in July. The price seems pretty reasonable, about 68 euros a night.

Just looking for some feedback as I have never booked with VBRO.com before and want to make sure I am being as cautious as possible before making any payments.

All feedback on this flat as well as the area is welcome. I found the interior to be quite pleasant and it had a good review, albeit there was only one review in total.

The location is excellent, as is the price. The only thing I would worry about is the obsession of the owner to show mostly the bathroom in the photos.

Good point kerouac, I am in contact with the owner and will see if she can provide additional photos perhaps.

It looks very nice. My concern is that it is on the 4th floor which would mean 5th floor US. I did not see an elevator mentioned. That could be a lot of stairs to climb with luggage and after a full day of site seeing.

Where do you sleep? Nowhere does it mention a bed. Perhaps the couch pulls out, but it sort of looks as if it would fill all the available floor space. I would definitely want more pictures, and I would absolutely not rent a place that had only a single review. I am highly suspicious of apartment photos that only show a table lamp and a red umbrella.

As someone who has spent many hours looking at Paris apartment photos, I don't see anything questionable about this place at all. Looks nice. You can see parts of the sofabed in the photos, and it looks clean and new. 15 sq meters is pretty small, but for a person or two it should be fine. Natural light, view, balcony.

If you're willing to walk up, I'd say go for it. The price looks right.

Oh, also: this owner accepts HomeAway payments, which did not exist the first time we got a vrbo Paris apartment. Your payment is protected against fraud. I recently tried to negotiate a HomeAway rental where I could not get the owner to use that payment method, and I finally bailed out.

Hi everyone thank you for the feedback, I have been speaking to the owner and they provided me with a few extra photos. The sofa becomes a bed, and the owner provided the make and model in case we were wondering about comfort.

As for the stairs walking up isn't a big deal for us, but I will check to see if there is in fact an elevator

I didn't see where it said 15 sq. meters. That is really tight space. When you move the coffee table to open the bed, you aren't going to have much walk around space.

July likely will be quite warm. Does it have a/c or at least a fan?

You're on an upper floor with only one window - it will be quite warm up there, even with a fan. You'll probably have to sleep with the window open - not sure about street noise.

This is an extremely small apartment, even for one person. The photos are deceptive - 15 sq meters is the entire floor space of the apartment - including the bathroom, hall and kitchen. The usable space is really not much larger than the sofa bed, once it's folded out.

If you're staying just a few days, plan to spend most of your time outside the apartment and will only unfold the bed at night to sleep, it would be adequate.

It's cute and cheap and all, but you might want to reconsider.

In my opinion the location is not perfect. I suggest avoiding the 19th and the 20th district. On the other hand it is really cheap for Paris. So, it depends what you're looking for. I would suggest you search for an apartment near Opéra or in the Marrais. Those areas are great to discover during your visit, but probably also more expensive.

161 square feet, if anyone finds that easier to understand. Many hotel rooms are larger, although less so in Paris.

From a perspective standpoint, this apartment, with everything it shows - bathroom, kitchen, main room and hallway is very small. Converting the 15 sq meters you'll see that the entire apartment is about the size of a 12 X 13 foot room. That is a small to moderate bedroom size in the US - and it includes bathroom and kitchen area. It's tiny.

Kayla's probably done by now or not around. Yes, it is small but about the size of a hotel room, so for the same price, it's probably better, actually (a 68 euro hotel room will be a 2*, and that is probalby not possible in the center). As long as you don't expect anything more than that. You get what you pay for.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts, we have decided to go with the apartment, it is small but we don't intend to be inside often and we are young and fit so we are fine with some stairs and some summer heat!
