Accommodations in Lübbennau, Germany?

We'd like to visit the Spreewald, and would like to be as close as possible to the waterways. We'd love to stay at the Hotel Schloss Lübbenau, but it's pretty expensive. Have any Fodorites visited the area, and can anyone make a suggestion about a reasonable pension, bed and breakfast or small hotel? We'd like to stay in the neighborhood of $100.

The Spreewald is a lovely area for a week or so, and you've made me jealous to hear you will be holidaying there.

A quick search on Google.de under <Lübbenau Unterkünfte> brought this up:

Preise & sonstige Leistungen

Saison Personen Preise
Vorsaison
Februar bis März 2 42,- €
Hauptsaison
April bis September 2 42,- €
Nachsaison
Oktober bis Januar 2 42,- €
Jede weitere erwachsene Person bezahlt 10 € pro Nacht
Kinder bis 12 Jahre bezahlen nur 50%, d.h. 5 € pro Nacht.

Sorry the name of this Ferienwohnung did not come through, but you should find it OK using the google search. As you see, the price for two all year round is 42 Euros a night (no meals), which is well under your $100 a night.

My first message wasn't much help I'm afraid, as I couldn't find the place above on my re-try.

You are best to key in

<www.luebbenau-online.de>

and then you will see the heading "Unterkünfte" on the left. Here you key in FeWo and a number of Ferienwohnungen will come up priced from 42E (which may be the one I mentioned above) down to much less than that.

I assume you know enough German to take it from there.

Enjoy!

harzer,

It is so kind of you to post! Peg is my sister, and we will be traveling together. We have long been trying to fit in at least a brief visit to the Spreewald. It just captures our imagination so.

Do you have any suggestions for the best way the see the area in a rather limited period of time?

I should think that walking and cycling would be the order of the day, if you want to explore the Spreewald in detail.

There is a local bus system that is an extension of the Berlin network to get you from one point of interest to another. The buses allow the transport of bikes.

Enjoy!
