Accommodations: Heidelberg
Will be visiting Germany and Switzerland in Sept. Am looking for accommodations in Heidleberg. Any recommendations?
If you can afford it, and like an old fashioned elegant place, stay at the Europa. Be sure you ask for a room in the new section. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the old town area and the university.
We visited in November 1996. Stayed only one night at Pension Elite. Quaint, inexpensive, and good breakfast. Easy walking to old city.
We also stayed at the Elite Hotel in Heidelberg, in late April of this year, and we are in full agreement
with the above. The fax # is 06221-16 39 49.

The Zum Ritter is the best in town and has an excellant dining room, rare in this part of Germany. The building is noteworthy for being one of the few untouched by the 30 year's war. Treat yourself to some real history and comfort at the same time.
The Zum Ritter is quite expensive but worth it. Good service, nice breakfast buffet, and a great location in the center of the pedestrian zone. You can walk to the Neckar river for a boat ride, walk up to the Castle and, of course, to shopping and restaurants. Look for their web site.

Try the Zur Backmulde in Heidelberg. Easy stroll to old part of city and the river. Rooms recently all redone and very nice. We paid $95.00 for a good room with breakfast in a trip in June 1997. Fax for details is 011 49 6221 536660.
