Accommodation suggestions for Amsterdam

We will be spending about 2-3 days in Amsterdam in June and I am looking for suggestions on:
1. Which areas we could focus on to look for Airbnbs
2. Hotels / boutique hotels (reasonable pricing not too expensive) with breakfast included.
We will not have a car and the plan is to do all the touristy stuff - so something that's fairly central and close to public transportation.

Would appreciate your recos for the above.
Thanks.

You don't state your budget but we enjoyed the Hotel Fita in Amsterdam a few years ago. The hotel is not fancy, but clean and comfortable. The hosts were very nice and the breakfast was delicious. It is located near the Van Gogh Museum and Rijksmuseum. We would be happy to return someday.

If you want a place with a kitchen and laundry facilities, try De Wittenberg, rather than Airbnb. It's in a very nice area and the apartments are great.

Thank so much, Kitchen and would be great. Is this area central to take public transportation and move around all the usual touristy stuff?

Thank you so much. Will take a look. I don't have a specific budget to quote, still exploring the average range for basic good hotels close to main attractions.

Wittenberg is near Artis, in a quiet leafy area. There's a tram nearby, nr 14, that goes to Central Station.
I don't know what usual touristy stuff you want to do. I like that it is not in one of the super crowded spots.
We used their bicycles to get around.

What are main attractions to you? Amsterdam is small and walkable. And trams are excellent for getting around
Maybe a good idea to get out of the crowdy touristy areas. Plantage, where Wittenberg is, is excellent for that, so are large areas of Amsterdam Zuid near Vondelpark and Museumplein.

And first and foremost: what are you planning to spend per night?

We like to stay in the Central Canal Ring area, Hotel l’Ambassade. Wonderful and convenient location.
