accommodation lucerne

Myself and 2 friends want to stay in Lucerne
for 2 nights in early May, can anyone recommend budget (if there is such a thing)
accommodation and is it better to just turn
up (we will be driving from Paris)or book
before we leave Australia. From Lucerne we go
to Como and I have found a hotel on the net
called "inrivaallago" has anyone stayed there
and if so is it o.k.? It's our first trip to
Europe so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks. Pam

Hi Pam, Im from Australia too. We found the most fantastic place cheap in Lucerne on the net and stayed there last April. I will find my notes and post the site and put it on this thread tomorrow. - It was our best find of our 7 week trip.! stay tuned! - Gayle

Hi Pam, I found the best Pension on the net last year and booked in over the internet. I have just found the email address which is [email protected]
The owners name is Kurt. I just emailed him and asked him for his web address.(I want to have another look too!) The place is a real gem. It overlooks the whole town including lake views. The room we had was (205) I think. Just ask for one with a balcony and view. The whole far wall is window and you lay in bed and look straight at Mt Piliatus. (we ended up calling it "our mountain") ha! It is a huge room with TV and Fridge and breakfast included. - The place is spotless - as all swiss places are and 2 minutes walk down the (steep steps) to the town. - It cost us 90Swiss franks a night (we were getting 99 to the dollar then and I think it is only 89 now so it will be more expensive for you) That was for this great room which I really recommend. But if you take one without the view and balcony they are much cheaper and right in the heart of town. - Good luck - Lucerne is lovely - Gayle

Forgot to mention - there is also a kitchen you can use and coin washer dryers you can use. - This place is not like a backpackers though - Its like a small block of Australian flats. Its just set up well - real relaxing if you've travelling for a while - Gayle
