Accommodation in the Collioure, Ceret, Banyuls area?
We are thinking of a week in the Collioure area in March. Our preference would be for a gite or apartment for two. Specific suggestions would be welcome as I would prefer to look into something that has a recommendation.
If you have restaurant suggestions they would be welcome. Thanks in advance for taking the time to respond. |

Click on the choice for Collioure and maybe you can find what you're looking. The Neptune is the top restaurant in Colloure. If you drive or walk a bit further along the coast (Port Vendres) and you'll find a selection of good fish places. La Chalut is my best choice. They have a menu for about 14 euros and the food is great. Other good fish places there too but not as good for so little money. Argeles is further north from Collioure and there's lots of choices for the apartments. But, nothing much is open in March. I rent in Argeles and May is the beginning of the happenings. Collioure is open the whole year, more of less. Port Vendres has a lot of action too but Banyuls is very quiet in March. I like Banyuls but for other reasons. Ceret is about 30 kms from Collioure. This is an active village but it's mostly daily activities. Colliure has a very long history and it's worth checking this out before you arrive. It has been a very, very port in the Med. This is also a village where the mountains meet the sea. Good visiting this area. Blackduff |
Thank you blackduff for suggestions. I have read your information on various threads and appreciate the help.
The link you provided does not seem to lead to anywhere helpful, rather a generic site about all inclusive vacations. I have tried variations of the link but no luck. We like to stay in "less-touristy" locations but I assume Collioure will be that way at that time of year? |

Here's a house located in the Argeles Village. http://yourlatitude.com/property/253...bid=tabGeneral I have never been inside but I know where it's located in Argeles and it's a nice area. This is close to the center of this village and it certainly wouldn't be thought being touristy. It's a typical village life. Beth is an American, living in California. I have pass contacts to her, since it's a nice property. It might be a bit too much for what you're looking, I'll try for some otherplace. I do have a friend who owns a studio in Collioure. I played darts with him last Tuesday and we talked about rentals, etc.. Right now he's not doing much, since he handles the studio himself. During the summer this is pretty busy and it's tough to do the change over. It's about a small apartment/studio but I've never been there. It's been told it's nice. If you're interested, I'll PM you with the email of the guy. His name is Tony Adams-British. For an idea of prices in that time of the year, I charge about 225 € per week. The linens are not included but some places will include the linens. My apartment would provide about 50 square meters (one bedroom), so you can get an idea of size. Beth's house/apartment is a good location for restaurants. This is within the train station walkable from the place and you can head direct to Collioure with the train. You can also head down to Figueras, Barcelona or Girona. Of course, Perpignan is available with the train too. There's a cafe within 500 meters from Beth's place with free Wi-Fi. That is a bonus. If you need more information, I might find some other places too. Cheers Blackduff |
Thank you Londonres - that does look lovely but our preference would be for a self-catering unit. I will keep it on hand for a meal!
Blackduff - do I infer that you have a place you rent out? My email is RobertJames7022 at aol.com Beth's place looks wonderful and is certainly a possibility. |
We stayed at the auberge de Roua and found it lovely--and very reasonable for the wonderfully large rooms, etc. I understand your interest in a self-catering place and the one that Blackduff shows looks fantastic and exceedingly reasonable. But make it a point to go to Auberge de Roua for a dinner. Though the restaurant was closed while we were there, the place is even more noted for its food than it's very lovely rooms, so I'm guessing it's a standout. Their breakfasts were very nice.
