Accommodation in Munich

Many people post good comments about Hotel Lida in Prague. Does anyone know of similar accommodation in Munich? We are looking for a clean, economical B&B.

I booked reservations at Hotel Alpha Zentrum in Munich, but I have never stayed there. Has anyone done so or knows anything about it? I could not find any reviews in Trip Advisor.

Type <Munich Hotels> (without the carats) into the search box at the top of the page. Many messages will appear from the archives on the left-hand side of your page.

I have used the Hotel Astoria in the Schwabing district of Munich. It is close to the U-bahn that leads to the city center in 3 or 4 stops, depending on where you want to go.

The breakfast is boutiful. You can literally stuff yourself to the limit with all kinds of breads, cheeses, coffee, teas, cereal, eggs, and fruit.
It is on Nicolaistrasse just off the main road called Leopoldstrasse. Plenty of shopping around there but the hotel is off the main street by a few dozen yards.

PS the front desk staff members are outstanding, and all the ones I know speak English.

Just left Hotel Condor, definitely a hotel and not a B&B, though breakfast is included in the 80E per night rates.

Positives: Very short 2 block walk from the main train station,on a fairly quiet side street with double-paned windows, friendly and helpful staff, great breakfasts, tickets for metro onsite, easy walk to old town sights and attractions.

Negatives: Rooms are small and there is no lift. Only half the rooms have an air conditioner so in a heat wave you might get stuck with just a fan.

I would say this hotel was actually a little better than appears on the website.

We loved the Hotel Uhland in Munich last June. A very nice mansion that's now a B&B with a great breakfast spread. It's in a pretty tree-lined, upscale neighborhood, about a block from the Oktoberfest park. Free parking and free use of bikes. 24-hour front desk and very nice and helpful service.
Only a 10 minute walk to the train station. Nice neighborhood restaurants nearby, too. Can't beat it.
If you search it's name on this site, you'll find many, many good reviews of it.
