Accommodation in Hvar for light sleeper

There are a couple other threads here dealing with the same topic – finding accommodation in Hvar. It seems that selection is limited, and here is what I am looking for: either hotel or apartment rental for 3 nights in Sept 2006 in Hvar town.

We would like to be close to the center of the town (walking distance to restaurants), have a view and a terrace. I am very light sleeper, so noise (or the lack of, actually) is very important.

Apartment Novak gets good reviews on this board (the stairs to get there do not scare us) but the noise is a concern. Can you please recommend something for us (2 people)? Thanks

XYZ99 - here's a place I came across while doing some research - it's located near Hotel Podstine - so pleanty of quiet but a good 20 minute walk from town.

Carta_Pisana,
Thanks for the link, the place looks very nice. One thing I like about this villa is that they have a double bed. It seems that generally, Croatian hotels (and villas) have 2 twin beds in the room – why is that?

I am not sure we would like to be so far away from the center – is it 20 min of leisurely walk? Or brisk walk? But I love the view and the terrace….finding the ‘right’ place in Hvar will not be easy

XYZ99 - the terrace does look great doesn't it? Why no full/queen beds? MIght reflect the tendency of back-packer type groups - not sure. As for location - if I wasn't going to be in Hvar Grad proper I would prefer to be towards Podstine than the other side of Hvar Grad. You would defintely need a car in that area - some great views though.

Carta_Pisana,
Yes, the terrace looks great. Actually, the entire villa looks great. The only problem is…it’s not available for September 2006 :(

Thanks for the advice on being on the Podstine side rather than on the other one.

Now, about driving (and I might start a new thread on this) – some people advise NOT to drive in Hvar. However, you think a car would be useful there. Please share your experience…
Thanks a lot

XYZ99 - I've rented a vespa/scooter every time I've been on Hvar. I will say the 3rd time on Hvar the drone of the scooter started getting on my nerves a bit - and yet sitting in a metal bubble (car) doesn't seem as visceral(?). Taxis are expensive - there is adequate bus service though not sure how late in the evening (which then a car would be more desirable than a scooter). I have ridden a scooter from Pitve to Hvar Grad late at night - it's not something I would heartily recommend but it is doable. I like the convenience of a scooter - easier to park, less gas, a little more free spirited, each individual has their own so as to go their own way when desired. There are jeeps you can rent. You could rent a car in Split and take the car ferry over and back. Depends upon what your comfortable with.

Thanks, C_P
Not sure what we’ll do – never rode a scooter before, and some people here advise against them. But the, some others advise against driving…
We like our mobility, so it’s gonna be either car or scooter – definitely not the bus.

Anyway, for now I have more urgent needs – still need to find a place to stay. None of the apartments on hvar-for-soul.com site rent for 3 nights only. And they all look great! They suggested I look into hotels for such a short stay. Any recommendation?
Thanks
